How can you protect your pet from unwanted pests like fleas and ticks?
Start by spraying your dog and her bedding with natural products containing neem. (Neem oil is gentle to pets but toxic to parasites.) Using a shampoo and powder can also help to prevent infestations.
For every flea on your pet, there may be about 30 more in your living room, so wash your pet and her bed regularly. Vacuuming frequently is also a must.
If your cat or dog has a short, fine coat, use a flea comb to get rid of shedding hair along with these parasites and their eggs.
Use a small metal instrument to remove ticks. However, if all or part of the parasite is embedded in your pet's skin, visit your vet, who can fully remove the tick and address any infection that may occur.
